Scientific Seminar Highlights the Role of Renewable Energy in Achieving Sustainability in Palestine in Partnership with RAED and within the TeraMed Initiative
The Palestine Wildlife Society, a member of the Arab Network for Environment and Development (RAED), is organizing a scientific seminar on Wednesday, April 15, titled “The Importance of Sustainable Renewable Energy: Future Prospects and Enhancing Environmental Awareness.” The seminar aims to highlight the pivotal role of clean energy in achieving sustainable development and to strengthen community and environmental awareness of the importance of transitioning to renewable energy sources to address future challenges.
The seminar will be held under the patronage of Eng. Ayman Ismail, Chairman of the Palestinian Energy and Natural Resources Authority, and in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, the Environment Quality Authority, and the Palestinian Renewable Energy Association, in partnership with RAED. The event will bring together a distinguished group of experts, officials, and representatives of environmental and development institutions, within the framework of the TeraMed Initiative, which seeks to increase clean energy production in the Mediterranean region to one terawatt (1 TW) by 2030.
Hosted at the Ministry of Agriculture Hall, the seminar will focus on several key themes, including exploring the future of renewable energy in Palestine, discussing climate change adaptation challenges, and presenting the concepts of the TeraMed Initiative and its role in supporting the transition toward a low-carbon economy in the Mediterranean region. The seminar will also review national efforts aimed at promoting the use of clean energy and expanding its application across various sectors.
This event comes amid growing regional and international interest in renewable energy, particularly in light of challenges related to energy security and climate change. Palestinian institutions are seeking to strengthen partnerships with Arab and international stakeholders to exchange expertise and develop policies that support the green transition. The seminar also reflects an increasing commitment to integrating environmental sustainability into development plans by encouraging the adoption of clean technologies and expanding reliance on solar energy, which represents one of the most viable solutions given Palestine’s natural potential.
The seminar represents an important platform for knowledge exchange and for raising awareness about the importance of transitioning to clean energy. It also emphasizes the significance of active participation by experts and stakeholders to support environmental sustainability efforts in Palestine. The outcomes of the seminar are expected to contribute to strengthening dialogue among relevant stakeholders and opening new avenues for cooperation in renewable energy, thereby enhancing the resilience of Palestinian society in addressing environmental and economic challenges and keeping pace with global transitions toward sustainable development.
