Since its establishment in 1990, the Arab Network for Environment and Development (RAED) has expanded its membership to include a wide range of civil society organizations working in the fields of environmental protection and sustainable development across the Arab region.
RAED’s membership currently extends across numerous Arab countries, including Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Tunisia, Algeria, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, Iraq, Palestine, Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Egypt, Morocco, Mauritania, and Yemen.
Through this broad regional network, RAED strengthens cooperation, knowledge exchange, and joint action among civil society organizations addressing environmental and sustainable development priorities across the Arab world.
1. Submission of Application
Organizations wishing to join the Network are required to submit a formal written application, accompanied by the supporting documents necessary to demonstrate compliance with the membership requirements. These documents should include:
- The organization’s bylaws or statutes
- The official registration or establishment decision
- An organizational profile or institutional CV
2. Review and Approval
The Secretariat reviews the submitted application and presents it to the Council of Coordinators for consideration and approval.
3. Notification and Membership Requirements
Upon approval, the Secretariat contacts the applicant organization to formally communicate the decision and provide details of any additional requirements or procedures necessary to complete the membership process.

Eligible Members
Active membership may be granted to:
Arab Environmental NGOs
Arab non-governmental organizations operating in Arab countries and actively engaged in environmental protection, conservation, and sustainable development.
Qualified Individuals
Individuals whose expertise, experience, or contribution is considered beneficial to the Network and its objectives.
2. Affiliate Membership
Eligible Members
Affiliate membership may be granted to:
Interested Non-Governmental Organizations
Non-governmental organizations in Arab countries that support or have an interest in the Network’s objectives, programs, and activities.
Arab Regional and Specialized Organizations
Arab international organizations, regional institutions, and specialized federations whose mandates or activities are relevant to the Network’s areas of work.
Environmentally Engaged Individuals
Individuals with a demonstrated interest in environmental protection and sustainability issues within the Arab region.
3. Supporting Membership
Eligible Members
Supporting membership may be granted to:
Non-Arab Non-Governmental Organizations
Non-Arab NGOs that share an interest in the Network’s objectives, activities, and areas of cooperation.
Environmentally Concerned Individuals
Individuals who are not professionally engaged in the Network’s activities but demonstrate an interest in environmental protection and support for the Network’s objectives.
4. Honorary Membership
Recognition of Distinguished Contributions
Honorary membership may be granted to organizations or individuals who have provided significant services, contributions, or support to the Network.
Honorary membership is awarded by a decision of the General Assembly, based on a recommendation from the Executive Council.
1. Visibility and Promotion
Publication of the member association’s activities in the Environment Forum, RAED’s monthly newsletter, as well as on the Network’s official website and relevant communication platforms.
2. Institutional Recognition
Inclusion of the association’s activities and contributions, as a member of RAED, in the Network’s Annual Report submitted to the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States.
3. Participation in Regional Events
Opportunities to participate in regional conferences, workshops, meetings, and other events organized by RAED, whether held in person or virtually.
4. Engagement in Regional Projects
Opportunities to participate in projects, programs, and initiatives implemented by RAED at national and regional levels, in accordance with the scope and requirements of each activity.
