The Arab Network for Environment and Development (RAED) Announces Partnership with Tanta University as Part of a Project to Enhance Community Resilience to Drought

The Arab Network for Environment and Development (RAED) is glad to announce a new partnership with Tanta University to implement a project aimed at enhancing the resilience of communities to drought. The initiative seeks to integrate traditional and local knowledge, while also exploring the use of smart tools for socially equitable water management. This regional project is being carried out in collaboration with the Dutch Water Institute.

The project focuses on the stakeholder active engagement in developing sustainable strategies and plans to address drought-related challenges. This will help strengthen the resilience of communities increasingly affected by climate change, ensuring the sustainability of water resources, especially in the Delta region.

As part of the initiative, stakeholders will assess their preparedness for drought, identifying strengths and weaknesses. Additionally, Local Water Governance Groups (LWGGs) will be established to facilitate cooperation with local and regional authorities and promote the exchange of expertise. The project will also explore ways to integrate social, economic, and environmental indicators into drought monitoring strategies.

To raise awareness, workshops and field visits will be organized to train stakeholders on tools for drought monitoring and management.
