Water and environment support
The Water and Environment Support Project is a regional project designed to contribute to the implementation of an integrated approach to reducing and preventing pollution, and this comes in line with the action agendas of the Union for the Mediterranean and the Barcelona Convention.
Overall goal
The project aims to contribute to achieving more efficient management of scarce water resources in the southern neighborhood.
The project seeks to achieve this by raising the capabilities of stakeholders involved in the field of pollution reduction and wastewater management and supporting them in formulating and implementing environmental and water policies.
Brief description of the project
The project supports the shift to a more sustainable consumption and production model, promoting integrated and effective water management, combating pollution resulting from plastics and marine litter and promoting dialogue on key issues related to environmental and sustainable development. In doing so, it also supports mutual understanding, cooperation and peace in the region.
The project will also focus on enhancing water efficiency in urban and rural areas, appropriate treatment of waste to enable its use/reuse, as well as recovery and affordability of water service costs.
