RAED Participates in the Steering Committee Meeting of the WES-BCA Project in Brussels

The Arab Network for Environment and Development (RAED) took part in the first Steering Committee meeting of the Water and Environment Support – Biodiversity and Climate Action (WES-BCA) project, held in Brussels, Belgium, on May 26, 2025.

The meeting reviewed the project’s work plan, which includes 27 national and regional activities, in addition to training sessions, awareness campaigns and study tours. These initiatives address key environmental challenges in the Eastern and Southern Mediterranean regions, such as plastic pollution, the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems (WEFE) Nexus, biodiversity and water scarcity.

Dr. Emad Adly, General Coordinator of RAED, participated in the meeting’s proceedings, contributing to strategic discussions and planning sessions. His participation reflects RAED’s continued commitment to supporting sustainability and fostering environmental cooperation in the Mediterranean region.

The WES-BCA project in the Southern Neighborhood, funded by the European Union, builds upon the achievements of the original Water and Environment Support (WES) project. It aims to enhance environmental protection, restore biodiversity, and improve the management of scarce water resources. The project also supports climate change adaptation efforts in the Mediterranean and contributes to the development and implementation of relevant policies in partner countries, within the frameworks of the Union for the Mediterranean and the Barcelona Convention.
