A Signed Agreement Between Zaranik Protected Area and the Sinai Women’s Rights Association to Protect Sea Turtles in Arish

As part of the third phase of the Small Grants Program for Civil Society Organizations, implemented by the Arab Network for Environment and Development (RAED) in collaboration with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), a cooperation agreement was signed between Zaranik Protected Area, under the Egyptian Environmental Affairs Agency, and the Sinai Women’s Rights Association in North Sinai. This partnership supports the “Sea Turtle Conservation in Arish to Preserve Biodiversity” initiative, aiming to protect sea turtles along the Mediterranean coast by raising awareness on proper handling techniques and mitigating threats to adult and juvenile turtles, such as overfishing and excessive plastic use. The project also includes activities to support marine life conservation and provide medical care for injured turtles.

The agreement ensures collaboration between Zaranik Protected Area and the Sinai Women’s Rights Association in implementing project activities, securing its success and sustainability.

This partnership marks an important step toward preserving biodiversity and strengthening the role of civil society in environmental protection in North Sinai.
