The Sinai Women’s Association in North Sinai has launched a project titled “Protection of Sea Turtles in Arish” to preserve biodiversity through an awareness campaign aimed at children, under the slogan “The Guardian Turtle.” This campaign is part of a partnership between the association and the Arab Network for Environment and Development (RAED), in collaboration with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) within the framework of the Small Initiatives Program (PPI OSCAN 3)
The campaign focused on educating children about the vital role played by sea turtles in maintaining environmental balance. Interactive simulation presentations were conducted to explain the sea turtles’ life cycle and reproduction in their natural habitat. The children were also taught the importance of protecting turtle eggs, which are laid on beaches at specific times of the year.
The campaign was held on Arish Beach in Al-Masaaid district and featured a variety of activities, including an art exhibition, educational seminars and awareness-raising video screenings. The children also participated in a beach cleanup, collecting plastic waste to highlight the dangers of plastic pollution on marine life, particularly sea turtles.
