“Solar Energy” Organizes a Field Trip for Seed Collection on “Kubaneya Island” in Aswan

The Benban Solar Energy Investors Association organized a field trip to Kubaneya Island, located north of Aswan city, as part of the “Nile Valley Seed Bank” project. This initiative is being implemented in collaboration with the Arab Network for Environment and Development (RAED) and the Mediterranean Cooperation Office of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), under the third phase of the Small-Scale Initiatives Program for Civil Society Organizations in North Africa (PPI-OSCAN3).

The trip witnessed active participation from association members and several volunteers, focusing efforts on documenting and collecting seeds from local plant species on Kubaneya Island. This endeavor aims to support biodiversity conservation in the area. The initiative is part of a broader strategy to enhance environmental awareness, encourage local communities to protect natural resources, and ensure their sustainability.

The trip documented all aspects of the trip, including the stages of seed collection and on-site explanations of the importance of native plants and their role in maintaining the ecosystem. It also highlighted the collaboration and synergy among participants to achieve sustainable development goals and nature conservation.

This initiative exemplifies the collaboration between civil society organizations and international partners to support environmental and developmental projects in North Africa. It emphasizes the protection of natural resources for future generations and the promotion of environmental sustainability. By fostering species survival and mitigating the risk of extinction for certain wild plant species, the project engages civil society in efforts to preserve and protect nature.
