Fisherman Trained by the “Marine Turtle Conservation” Project Revives a Turtle on Arish Coast
A fisherman who participated in training sessions organized by the “Marine Turtle Conservation” project in Arish, implemented by the Sinai Women’s Rights Association under the third phase of the Small-Scale Initiatives Program for Civil Society Organizations in North Africa (PPI OSCAN3), successfully rescued a turtle stranded on the shore and brought it back to life.
This rescue serves as a tangible example of the success of the Marine Turtle Conservation project in raising awareness among local fishermen about the importance of preserving marine ecosystems and protecting endangered marine species. It also highlights the project’s effectiveness in promoting community engagement in biodiversity conservation efforts.
The Marine Turtle Conservation project, implemented through a partnership between the Arab Network for Environment and Development (RAED) and the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN) – Centre for Mediterranean Cooperation, aims to strengthen biodiversity conservation efforts. It also seeks to achieve sustainable development by involving civil society in the preservation and protection of natural habitats.
