Dr. Emad El-Din Adly, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Egyptian Forum for Sustainable Development, confirmed that the signing of the cooperation protocol with King Salman University, on May 5, comes as one of the results of the consultative meeting held by the Forum at the university’s headquarters in Ras Sidr, under the title “Sustainable Development of the Village.” Egyptian…Development of South Sinai,” last March.

On the occasion of the signing of the cooperation protocol between King Salman International University, the Egyptian Forum for Sustainable Development issued a statement, which stated:

Based on the keenness of the Egyptian Forum for Sustainable Development to strengthen the bridges of communication between it and the relevant partner parties concerned with establishing the idea and concept of sustainable development, and focusing on its issues, the forefront of which are scientific and research institutions, and as one of the most important results of the consultative meeting, which the Forum held at the University of… King Salman International University, Ras Sudr, under the title: Sustainable Development of the Egyptian Village – Development of South Sinai. During the month of March 2021 at the university’s headquarters in Ras Sudr, one of its most important recommendations was the establishment of a cooperation protocol between the Egyptian Forum for Sustainable Development and King Salman International University, for the purpose of consolidating the principles of education. And learning for sustainable development, and focusing on the role of the university, through its faculty members, in qualifying and empowering university students, and stimulating their abilities towards achieving sustainable development goals and their applications, as well as the importance of benefiting from disseminating the university’s contributions to serving and developing society and its direct ability to network with decision makers to Local levels, for the purpose of transferring their scientific and practical expertise in setting governing frameworks, to ensure sustainability in development projects and plans implemented at the local level.

In accordance with this, the protocol was signed between the two parties on the fifth of May 2021, the rules of which were based on the convergence of the desire of the two parties to cooperate, integrate and exchange experiences among themselves, in order to achieve their goals and seek to form a partnership to achieve their strategic vision. To achieve this, it stipulates The protocol stipulates the commencement of implementing a set of executive activities to achieve the desired results, including the formation of a joint supreme committee for the purpose of following up and evaluating the proposed plans and programmes, and that the two parties, in cooperation with local authorities and entities in South Sinai Governorate, seek to present and discuss development plans in the governorate, while working to establish a framework A guideline that guarantees the achievement of sustainable development in the plans and programs proposed.

The protocol will also contribute to the two parties working to exchange experiences, in light of the capabilities and resources available to both parties, with the aim of contributing to activating the role of university students, to enable them to contribute to achieving the concept of sustainable development and its goals, and to enhance their capabilities in order to contribute effectively to the axes of Egypt’s strategy for sustainable development 2030, As well as introducing the most important challenges and priority development issues at the national level, with a focus on the importance of training youth cadres of male and female university students, to be ambassadors for sustainable development, creating community partnerships, as well as presenting community initiatives and trying to find opportunities to finance them.

It also included a number of proposed field activities, such as forming a distinguished center within the university, specializing in analyzing studies, research and scientific dissertations that revolve around sustainable development, and ways and mechanisms for achieving it, and developing the skills and capabilities of researchers and scholars in the field of sustainable development goals research, by involving them in training courses. Which is organized by the forum, and organizes the necessary courses in this field.

In order to complete the realization of this vision, it is planned that during the coming period, we will begin developing an executive vision for the beginning of the work of this important protocol.
