August 2008 witnessed a new qualitative leap forward for RAED partnerships at the international level. A protocol of cooperation between RAED and the International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (ISDR) was signed at the headquarters of the network secretariat in Cairo to implement a set of joint initiatives to support the Arab countries and strengthen the Arab civil society efforts for DRR. Especially in the environmental field, and specifically in addressing the problem of climate change.
The agreement aims to strengthen and support cooperation between the environment sector in the various Arab countries, the local community, civil society organizations, the public and private sectors and the government.
