The collaboration between RAED and the Global Network of Civil Society Organizations for Disaster Risk Reduction (GNDR) began with the implementation of Views from the Front-line project VFL. the objective of the project was to collect data from some of the most vulnerable areas in the Arab region, Where the project’s participating countries of RAED conducted a questionnaire to identify the needs of each area selected for the project implementation. Then came the second phase of the project, which is Action at the Front-line AFL. By this project some activities were implemented in Egypt, Algeria and Jordan.
The relationship between GNDR and RAED continued after that, as RAED has been selected to be the focal point for North Africa and West Asia.
At the World Summit in Bangkok in 2016,GNDR launched its strategy “Stronger Together” 2016. Which emphasizes the involvement of civil society in the development of policies and strategies at the international, national and local levels, as well as the strengthening of civil society capacities and cooperate with all relevant stakeholders. Also to strengthen the capacity of its members to develop and use knowledge and exchange experiences.
And because of RAED’s belief in its role, it Has invited civil society organizations from its members to be GNDR members, and help the largest number of civil societies build their capacity to adapt and reduce the risks of natural disasters, especially those resulting from climate change.
